  2. Select “Settings” from the dropdown menu
  3. Under “Conversion Options,” you can adjust:
    • Quality level for JPG, WebP, and AVIF (1-100%)

Your settings will be saved and applied to all future conversions until changed.

Is my image data secure when using this extension?

Absolutely. Your privacy and data security are our top priorities:

  • 100% Local Processing: All image conversion happens entirely within your browser. Your images never leave your device or get uploaded to any servers.
  • No Data Collection: We don’t collect, store, or track any of your images or personal information.
  • No Internet Permission: The extension doesn’t require internet access permissions beyond what’s needed to function in your browser.
  • Open Source: Our code is transparent and available for review by security experts.

We believe that image conversion tools should respect your privacy, which is why we’ve designed Save Image As Type with a privacy-first approach.

Why can’t I convert some images on certain websites?

There are a few potential reasons why you might encounter issues with specific images:

  • Content Security Policies: Some websites implement strict security policies that prevent our extension from accessing image data.
  • Protected Images: Certain websites use methods to protect their images from being downloaded or manipulated.
  • Dynamic Loading: Images loaded via complex JavaScript might not be properly detected by the extension.
  • Corrupted Images: If the source image is corrupted or incomplete, conversion might fail.

Solutions to try:

  1. Refresh the page and try again
  2. Try right-clicking directly on the image instead of nearby areas
  3. Check if the image is fully loaded before attempting conversion
  4. For protected websites, try using the extension on a different site

If you continue to experience issues, please contact our support team with details about the specific website and image.

Can I convert multiple images at once (batch conversion)?

Yes, Save Image As Type supports batch conversion in two ways:

  1. Gallery Mode:
    • Click the extension icon in your browser toolbar
    • Select “Gallery Mode”
    • All images on the current page will be displayed in a grid
    • Select multiple images by clicking on them (or use “Select All”)
    • Choose your desired output format and click “Convert Selected”
  2. Right-click on page background:
    • Right-click on the webpage background (not on an image)
    • Select “Save Image As Type” > “Convert All Images on Page”
    • Choose your desired output format
    • All visible images will be converted and downloaded in a ZIP file

Batch conversion is perfect for downloading product galleries, photo collections, or any webpage with multiple images you need in a specific format.

Will converting to WebP or AVIF affect image quality?

WebP and AVIF are modern image formats designed to provide excellent compression while maintaining visual quality:

  • WebP: At the default quality settings, WebP images are typically 25-35% smaller than equivalent JPEG images with visually identical quality. WebP also supports transparency like PNG but with much smaller file sizes.
  • AVIF: This next-generation format offers even better compression than WebP, with file sizes often 50% smaller than JPEG at equivalent quality. AVIF excels at preserving fine details and color accuracy.

By default, our extension uses quality settings that balance compression and visual quality. For most users, the difference in quality is imperceptible, while the reduction in file size is significant.

If you need maximum quality, you can adjust the quality settings in the extension options to prioritize visual fidelity over file size reduction.

Remember that browser support for these formats is growing but not universal. WebP is supported by all modern browsers, while AVIF support is still expanding.

The extension isn’t appearing in my right-click menu. How do I fix this?

If Save Image As Type isn’t appearing in your right-click context menu, try these troubleshooting steps:

  1. Verify installation: Check if the extension appears in your browser’s extension list and is enabled
  2. Refresh the browser: Close and reopen your browser completely
  3. Right-click directly on images: Make sure you’re right-clicking directly on an image, not on a link or background
  4. Check permissions:
    • Go to your browser’s extension settings
    • Find Save Image As Type and click “Details” or “Permissions”
    • Ensure that “Context Menu” permission is enabled
  5. Disable conflicting extensions: Temporarily disable other image or download-related extensions that might be conflicting
  6. Reinstall the extension: Uninstall and reinstall the extension from the store

If you’ve tried all these steps and still don’t see the extension in your right-click menu, please contact our support team with details about your browser version and operating system.
